The challenge ladder is the primary mode of action for the Illini Racquetball Club. We meet twice a week in order to play, and the challenge ladder is the basis of our play. The ladder consists of a list of all the current members of the club, and as the semester progresses, it will reflect the general skill of the members of the club. Generally, if you win, you move up, if you lose, you move down. In this way, the ladder arranges itself such that you will frequently find yourself playing players at your own skill level. That said, there is definite room for improvement, based on whether you are able to beat the individual above you on the ladder. In this way, games are always competitive, and everyone in the club should notice improvement over time.

Participation is the most important factor in the success of our practices and the challenge ladder. As such, if wish to play at a given practice, you must arrive on time in order to be included in the games for that day. In the event that you will be late, you must contact an officer of the club to be included. In the event that you do miss a practice, your position on the ladder will not change. However, if you miss three practices in a row, you will suffer a two spot penalty, with an additional two spots for each missed practice thereafter. Harsh though this may seem, this is in place in order to encourage people to come to practice on a consistent basis so that we can all improve and have fun together.
